Bloomington Region: Stanford Walks Off into Super Regionals

Stanford moves into the Super Regional round in dramatic fashion as Tommy Edman hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth as Stanford upset host Indiana, 5-4.

Indiana (44-15) carried the lead the majority of the night with a Kyle Schwarber two-run homer in the third followed up later when Nick Ramos broke a 3-3 tie with an infield single in the top of the eighth to put the Hoosiers up 4-3 heading into the ninth. Freshman Craig Dedelow came up big for Indiana with three hits, including an RBI single, but the offensive efforts of the no. 1 seeded Hoosiers would prove to be too little as Stanford headed into the ninth.

With Stanford trailing 4-3 in the ninth, Wayne Taylor started things off with a single up the middle and moved to second on Brett Michael Doran’s sacrifice bunt before Edman’s walk off blast.

Stanford (34-24) play at Vanderbilt in the Super Regional.
