Casazza Joins SMC Media Network
Sportswriter, blogger, columnist, author to debut weekly show
Aug. 20, 2013
Baltimore, MD. – Sports Man Cave Media Network announced Tuesday that Mike Casazza, a writer for West Virginia’s Charleston Daily Mail, has joined the company. Casazza will host a weekly radio show covering college football across the nation and the Big 12 Conference in particular.
“Scoop and Score” will debut Aug. 29 and run from 8-10 p.m.
“As excited as I am for the opportunity to work in radio and reach and engage with a whole new audience, I’m actually more grateful to the people who somehow thought this was a good idea,” said Casazza, who will remain with the Daily Mail on a full-time basis. “I’d like to say my goal is to do something new and give listeners something interesting, but for now, I’d like to make sure no one gets fired. We’ll go from there.”
“Scoop and Score” will make use of Casazza’s contacts in the media and college football as well as his experience covering West Virginia University, the Big East, the Big 12 and a variety of bowl games, lawsuits, coaching changes and stories that have nothing to do with the game and how it’s played. The show will also invite listeners to contribute with their thoughts and questions.
Casazza has worked at the Daily Mail since 2007 and won a list of awards for writing features and columns and for breaking news. He also wrote Waiting For The Fall: A Decade of Dreams, Drama, and West Virginia University Football in 2012 and began contributing to Football.com as a Big 12 writer and later editor in 2013.
“I couldn’t be more excited about Mike joining the team,” said Sports Mancave President Roy Edwards. “There is no one more respected in the West Virginia college sports community, and we are thrilled to have him on our side. He will bring a fresh voice and show, as well as an incredible amount of knowledge to SMCRadio.”
